“(Beth Jeans Houghton) a 21-year-old from the north-east of England, is to be...”
– Simon Price, in this review here This is why Simon Price remains one of my favorite music critics. I’ve been slacking on writing a review of this album; it’s gotten so many outstanding reviews but I’m just not feeling in. Glad I’m good company there.

My review of professional cool dude Barry... →
P.S. Fromhertoeternity and I went to see Barry Adamson do an in-store at Other Music this week and it was a fine time, if the backing tracks kind of got in the way of things. Also, I think Barry started singing “I Can’t Stand the Rain” by Missy Elliott over the outro to one of his songs (and “Young Americans” later on)?! Like I said, a fine time.

I just read an article on Nicki Minaj that mentioned her thighs twice in the the first two sentences. It’s really bad when journalists do this because it gives me an urge to write a piece where I refer to Ed Macfarlane’s ass five times in the first sentence.

Do the dead outnumber the living? →
theossuary: This is something I think about fairly frequently. The article estimates the number to be 107,602,707,791. The population of the planet reached seven billion in October, according to the United Nations. But what’s the figure for all those who have lived before us? It is often said that there are more people alive today than have ever lived - and this “fact” has raised its head again...

imathers: Yet more year-end content from me which is not, yet, my own gigantic year-end wrap-up: two blurbs for PopMatters’ Slipped Discs feature, one on Friendly Fires and one on SubRosa. Fellow PopMatters writer here. Just wanted to say I think your write-up of Pala is really great! I unfortunately dropped the ball on writing any Slipped Discs blurbs this year, so I’m glad to see how...
